Torben was originally slated to play opposite famed and acclaimed actor and fellow gastroenterologist Tom Hanks in the movie Castaway; however, contract disputes and a poorly timed guest appearance on the disastrous Lizzy Borden tour as Flaggellator, the Whipping Boy, forced the producers to recast Wilson's part.

Torben was an original member of Wilson Phillips and spent the better half of 1997 ghost writing Emmanuel Lewis' Mystery Novel Series.
