Brock Ellis! While on stage one evening Mr. Ellis performed a duet with a close show woman. The subject of the song was indolence, which the duo rendered sweetly albeit* with a strong touch of irony. The irony was lost on a young man in the throng that night who, after the show, approached a group member to complain. This man was a maritimer and he had not taken kindly to the depiction of a down and outer such as himself as an idler or loafer who had nothing better to do than waste the taxpayers' money. When he composed himself he confided he was a close friend of the guy who did lights for Harem Scarem, an edgy metal outfit from Halifax whose activities currently lie fallow. *Anyone who has ever listened to a broadcast by sportscaster John McKeachie will recognize this word. |
